EJ Scott’s “outside the box fundraising” 4th Marathon “Justified”

Published on April 22, 2013 by in Marathons

EJ Scott says:

I’m doing my 4th 12 hour TV marathon FOR CHARITY today with the show, JUSTIFIED!

My first three marathons went very well with “Homeland” and then “Game of Thrones and Mad Men.”

Last year I ran 12 Marathons in 12 States in 12 Months.  So now I’m doing the total opposite of running. I’m sitting. for long periods of time watching great television. The idea is watching shows I never got into but wanted to get into. Its thinking outside the box fundraising. You don’t have to torture yourself. You can do something fun and get people involved. So please join me on Twitter @ejscott (i’ll be tweeting now and then) and give to my cause. We are still far from a cure and need funds for research.

I’ve now surpassed my 10 year anniversary of being diagnosed with CHOROIDEREMIA. So please donate, by clicking on the button below and help me get this thing cured before another 10 years goes by.

Thank you.

EJ Scott will be on the Armondo Show Saturday at IOWest in Hollywood.

EJ Scott will be on the Armondo Show this Saturday, April 20 at 9:00pm at the IOWest in Hollywood.

Ej says: Some of the best improv in the city! Good times. :)  So, if you’re in LA, stop by and see EJ perform.

The Armando Show is a 90-minute long improvised comedy show inspired by an audience suggestion, which the celebrity hosts interpret through a personal and truthful improvised monologue. Inspired by that monologue, a cast composed of veteran Chicago and Los Angeles alumni perform scenes that, in turn, inspire a response from Armando. This propels hilarious interchanges between Armando’s monologues and the company’s scenes.

LA Times reviewer F. Kathleen Foley describes the performance by saying, “ …this free-associative repetition melds into Zen-like flights of fancy….

This show is the reason to see live improv in Los Angeles.

iO West (formerly known as the “Improv Olympic West”), the Los Angeles arm of the world-famous iO in Chicago, presents the best improvisation west of the Windy City.

Reservations ar estrongly reocmmended. The theater is located at 6366 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood, California. Valet Parking is available.

EJ Scott to be on “Celebrity Superfan Rountable” This Friday

Published on April 17, 2013 by in Press

superfanEJ is doing a “Celebrity Superfan Roundtable” this Friday 11-1 PST and 2-4 EST LIVE on Howard 101 on SIRIUS XM. The hosts are Jeff Probst and Natalie Maines from Dixie Chicks.

EJ says:

After I ran the marathon in New York in November Jeff Probst was interested in having Deborah and I on his day time talk show. We had a great time being interviewed by him and it was a real treat to meet him since Deb and I watch Survivor each week and think he’s the best Competition/Reality host ever! I always knew Jeff was a big Howard Stern fan because I am also a huge fan of Howard’s.

After the interview we talked briefly about Howard and I mentioned I did Superfan Roundtable (where just regular listeners and fans come and talk about the show) a couple of months previously. Jeff said he and Natalie Maines were going to host another edition of “Celebrity Superfan Roundtable” pretty soon and invited me to come. I said yes immediately (even though I’m no celebrity); I wouldn’t miss this for anything. Natalie and Jeff have done a few of the “Celebrity” editions in the past and they are always enjoyable. I’m really touched to be asked and excited to see who else will be there. And, I can talk about Howard Stern all day long. Since I’ve been a loyal listen for over 22 years. I don’t know in what capacity I’ll be involved, but I’m looking forward to whatever they want to do.

So please listen this Friday April 19th 11am- 1pm Pacific (2-4 Eastern) on Howard 101 on SIRIUSXM Radio.

And Baba Booey to y’all!!

EJ

The money raised is going to the Choroideremia Research Foundation. Choroideremia is a genetic and degenerative eye disease that attacks the peripheral vision and erodes it over time and will cause eventual blindness. I am legally blind now. I have about 10-15 degrees centrally of vision left. My grandfather went blind in his 40′s. I am 37 right now and am looking for a cure or treatment. Not only for myself but for my brother (26) and 2 nephews (8 and 4) who also have the disease. My sister, mother and aunt are all carriers. This pattern will continue for future generations unless something is done to stop it.

Please visit the CRF website for more information.

Deborah has said she will match whatever is raised until the winner is drawn. So your $10 entry will send $20 to the foundation. (minus whatever fees Crowdrise takes).

Help EJ Scott Find a Cure for Choroideremia

ejfinalIt’s true, 10 years ago this month I was diagnosed with Choroideremia. Help me insure that another 10 years won’t go by without a treatment or cure.

Last year I ran 12 marathons (26.2 miles each), in 12 states in 12 months. My goal was to raise an average of $12,000 per race ($144,000 total). I’m happy to report that because of the support and help and a HUGE fundraiser in Chicago by the KING family WE raised over $150,000!!!

Thank you so much to everyone that donated and tweeted and posted and emailed and went to a benefit show or performed in one.

This year I’m doing another 12 marathons except this time they are TV marathons. It sounds silly but I wanted to make the point that you don’t have to run 12 marathons to raise money for a good cause. So one day a month I am watching 12 hours of one show. Shows I haven’t seen before. January was HOMELAND, Feb was GAME of THRONES, March was MAD MEN, and I’m trying to raise money for the Choroideremia Research Foundation.

A great guy and filmmaker, Ryan Suffern, has helped me put together a short film to use as a way to gain awareness and donations. And we have already been accepted in a great film festival (which I’m not allowed to talk about yet).

Please continue to support until this stupid thing is cured. Thank you so much!!! :)
